MistaFlava's 2010 CFL Football Record: 1-1 ATS (-1.00 Units)

Thursday, July 28

Montreal Alouettes -10 (10 Units)

The Toronto Argonauts are the surprise team of the early season with their 3-1 record after being predicted to be the only team in the league to miss out on the playoffs against in 2010. These young group is obviously defying all odds and putting on a show for their fans. Now comes their toughest test to date and because this team is so young and because they are so fresh it's going to be a challenge. In their two road games this season the Argonauts have scored 26.0 points per game but have averaged only 283.5 total yards of offense per game on 6.2 yards per play and that's not good enough against a high flying Montreal attack that has also has a very capable defense who have allowed only 14.0 points in their only home game of the season while allowing only 320.0 total yards of offense in that game. RB Cory Boyd has been a star for the Argos averaging 5.0 yards per carry on the road but Montreal's run defense has allowed only 49 rushing yards at home on 3.5 yards per carry. Their home opponents have completed only 53.8% of their passes for 6.9 yards per pass attempt and again the Argos won't have enough fire power to keep up in this one.

The Montreal Alouettes are and always will be a team Toronto struggles to play with and nothing has changed from their recent meetings. The Als, as expected are 3-1 on the season right now as they are coming off 37-14 crushing of the Hamilton Tigercats in their home opener just last week. The Als lost their season opener but have not looked back since winning their next three games by an average of 12.3 points per game and again they have enough fire power to blow away the Argos. The Als scored 37 points last week on 406.0 total yards of offense and 7.5 yards per play which is a problem for this Argonauts defense. Toronto has allowed 32.0 points per road game this season allowing those opponents to average 506.5 total yards of offense per game and 8.1 yards per play. Montreal has a prolific passing and running balanced attack and they should have no problems pounding away on the ground with an Argos defense that allows 6.6 yards per carry on the road on 161.5 rushing yards per game. RB Avon Cobourne should have ball in this one. In the air, QB Anthony Calvillo completed 73.7% of his passes against Hamilton for 309.0 passing yards and 8.1 yards per pass attempt. Montreal is all about the big plays and against an Argonauts defense that has allowed 9.1 yards per pass attempt on the road, the big plays should come by the boat loads. It's also worth mentioning that Toronto has fumbled the ball 7 times in two road games, losing 3 of those fumbles. The Alouettes had 2 fumble recoveries against Hamilton and that could be huge in this one.

Check the history and come talk. Montreal has won six straight against Toronto dating all the way back to October 20, 2007 when the Argonauts somehow came into this place and left with a 16-9 win. Since that win they have gone 0-6 against Montreal (0-7-1 if you can't two pre-season games as well) and Montreal has won those games by 18, 26, 10, 25, 19 and 25 points. So not once in the last six meetings has Toronto been able to keep the game within single digits and I have a feeling things are going to get just as nasty in this one. Toronto comes into this game 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games overall, they are 1-4 ATS in their last five games played on Thursday Night Football and they are 1-4 ATS in their last five games versus Eastern Conference teams. Montreal is the complete opposite as they are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games versus teams from the Eastern Conference and the Alouettes are very tough to beat at home going 5-2 in their last seven home games. Montreal is 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings between these two teams and I have to think the Alouettes are going to keep that trend going.

Trend of the Game: Montreal is 6-0 ATS in their last six meetings with Toronto.
